Xetoto Arts Festival 2025 in Brief

The 2025 Xetoto Arts Festival, held in Keta from October 30 to November 1, was a vibrant celebration of Ewe culture and community spirit, operating under the theme “Keta Rises: The Sand Holds the Echoes of Time”. The event successfully blended traditional heritage with contemporary artistic expression, with most activities centered at the Aborigines Beach Resort.
Event Highlights
The three-day festival featured a diverse lineup of activities designed to engage the community and tourists alike:
Emancipation Vigil (October 30): The festival kicked off with a soul-stirring street event that processed from Vui Junction to Aborigines Beach. It featured powerful performances from artists like Enam Hadzi Vodushi, Vimboss Bakteria, and Mprez Ody, focusing on themes of liberation, identity, and ancestral symbolism.


Health Walk and Children’s Day in Art (October 31):
The second day started with a community health walk, followed by a dedicated “Children’s Day in Art” event at the Aborigines Beach Resort. This segment nurtured young talent with activities such as painting, storytelling, face painting, and games, emphasizing the festival’s commitment to youth development and creativity. In the evening, attendees enjoyed “The Beach Rave”.


SHS Arts & Crafts Exhibition and The Creative Gathering (November 1): The final day showcased the artistic talents of local senior high school (SHS) students. The festival concluded with “The Creative Gathering,” a platform for various artists and creatives to connect, share ideas, and celebrate the spirit of Ewe land through music, movement, and meaning.


The 2025 Xetoto Arts Festival served as a major cultural event in the Volta Region, promoting local talent, preserving cultural heritage, and using art to foster community pride and engagement.
